Ice Massage

When it comes to injuries or inflammation, many of us tend to grab an ice pack to help reduce swelling and heal. Cold treatments have been proven to be beneficial to the body in a multitude of ways, beyond just pain and inflammation relief.

Ice massage is an intensive and targeted method of cold treatment that extends many of the advantages of passive cold treatments. Your massage therapist will use a professional ice cup to target painful or inflamed areas.

Treatment consists of ten minutes of ice compression, five minutes of massage to warm the area to get fresh blood flowing and then another ten minutes of ice. After treatment, circulation will be improved and pain should be moderately reduced. Ice massage is popular and effective for treating plantar fasciitis and sciatica. Cold stones can be an effective treatment for migraines and tension headaches.
